San Francisco Bay Area

Job Posting: Assistant Organizer (Part-Time, On-Site, Some Remote)

Compensation: Starting: $35/hour. Possible increase after training, apprenticeship, and based on experience.

Schedule: Variable hours, Monday–Friday, 8 AM – 6 PM

Note: Hours may be inconsistent, unpredictable, and no minimum number of hours will be guaranteed. Over time and with experience and training, hours may increase significantly. Preference will be given to “full-time availability” candidates.

About the Role:

Calm Spaces is seeking a detail-oriented, proactive, and reliable Assistant Organizer to support in-home organizing projects. This part-time, on-site role involves working directly with clients to sort, declutter, and install organizing systems. Over time, the candidate will grow into leading organizing projects and working with clients independently.

Calm Spaces considers this a long-term position and requests a commitment of at least 5 years.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with decluttering, sorting, and setting up organizing systems

  • Label and categorize items for optimal storage

  • Guide clients through the organizing process with patience and professionalism

  • Source and shop for organizing products as needed

  • Haul donations and coordinate with service providers

  • Take detailed notes and photos

  • Follow directions competently and solve problems independently

  • Provide clear and concise reports and updates

Qualifications Required:

✔ 5+ years experience in a related field (e.g., project management, retail/stockroom management, customer service, nursing, teaching, care-taking, estate management, mental health service provider, or another client-facing helping profession).

✔ Reliable access to a private vehicle capable of transporting cargo (such as a sedan, hatchback, crossover, SUV, truck, or van. Must be willing to travel throughout the Bay Area to different locations for each shift. Must be willing to use your private vehicle for work purposes, including running client errands and hauling products and donations.

✔ Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work without supervision.

✔ Comfortable working one-on-one with older children, teens, adults, senior citizens, people with disabilities, and neurodiverse people.

✔ Comfortable working in environments with animals, small children, allergens such as dust and pet dander, and environments lacking climate control in hot or cold weather. Some environments may be dirty, dark, cramped, enclosed, unfinished, or neglected spaces.

✔ Physically able to lift and carry heavy items and be moving around quickly on your feet for up to 8 hours a day. This job is highly physically demanding.

✔ Pass a comprehensive background check verifying education, employment, criminal record, and responsible operation of a motor vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications:

✔ Experience working with ADHD, neurodivergent, and disabled people

✔ Ability to do limited administrative work remotely

✔ Familiarity with Google products (Docs, Sheets, GMail, Drive, and Calendar)

✔ College degree in a related field

✔ Full-time or near full-time availability during the weekdays

✔ Professional organizing experience. Note: This position will require you to sign a non-compete agreement. Professional organizers who wish to continue working with their own clients or with another organizing business should not apply.
